What is a used car loan?
A used car loan (pre-owned car loan) finances the purchase of a second-hand car from a dealer or an individual seller. The lender values the car, funds 70–100% of that valuation and holds hypothecation on the RC until the loan is repaid. Rates are higher than new car loans because the asset is older, but still well below unsecured personal loans.

- Cars up to 8–10 years old at the end of the loan tenure
- Buy from certified dealers, used-car platforms or individual sellers
- Refinance (loan on your existing car) for quick funds

Tips before you take a used car loan
- Get the car inspected and check service history, accident record and pending challans

- Buying from a certified dealer often gets you a higher LTV and faster approval
- Compare the total cost, not just the rate — processing and valuation fees add up
